CBN Oil-A Cannabinoid with a lot of potential
CBN is a substance from the cannabis plant that is much less known than CBD and THC. Yet CBN Oil also has a number of very useful properties. That seemed like a good reason to tell you more about this one still unknown weed oil for many.
What is CBN?
CBN is the abbreviation for cannabinol. The chemical formula of CNB is: C 21 Sub> H 26 o 2 .
Just like CBD and THC, CBN is naturally found in cannabis. Freshly picked cannabis, however, contains relatively little CBN. This is because CBN is caused by oxidation of THC or THCA. This oxidation process mainly takes place after cannabis has been harvested. So the longer the cannabis is stored, the more CBN.
Effect of CBN
CBN is a light psychoactive substance. This is different from THC that has a much stronger mind -expanding effect. That is why you can safely be: you cannot get high from CBN Oil. In that respect, CBN oil looks more like CBD oil. You will not be high from that either.
You may have read elsewhere that CBN Oil has a pain-drowning effect or that CBN oil helps with a good night's sleep. Perhaps that is true, but unfortunately we cannot make a statement about this. We are not a medical website.
What we can do is explain how CBN oil works.
How does CBN Oil work?
A few years ago, scientists discovered that the human body produces substances that resemble certain substances from the cannabis plant. That is why these substances are called endocannabinoids. The prefix endo means body's own.
In addition, a system in the human body that responds to these endocannabinoids is discovered. This has been called the endocannabinoid system. That is a mouthful and that is why we shorten it here as ECS.
The ECS influences other body systems such as the immune system, muscles, skin and nervous system.
Now it is true that the ECS not only responds to the body's own endocannabinoids, but also to certain substances from the cannabis plant. We call those substances from the cannabis plant cannabinoids.
There are many cannabinoids including very well-known (eg CBD and THC) and less well-known (eg CBN, CBG and CBC) . Every cannabinoid has a different effect on the endocannabinoid system. And indirectly also on other body systems.
entourage effect
there is more. It appears that the presence of one cannabinoid influences the effect of another cannabinoid. We call this the entourage effect.
It is of course not the case that the presence of one cannabinoid ensures that another cannabinoid suddenly has a completely different effect. It is more a matter of strengthening. In Jip and Janneke language:
The presence of dust A ensures that dust B has a greater effect in the body.
